James M. Doss Charitable Foundation

A complete rescue and modernization of a failed legacy Drupal foundation site, preserving years of awards, press, media, and grant records in a secure WordPress platform.

James M. Doss Charitable Foundation WordPress website homepage

The James M. Doss Charitable Foundation site began as a recovery project. A hosting PHP upgrade had taken the legacy Drupal/Varbase installation offline, but the site still contained years of valuable foundation history and grant activity.

Recovered before it was rebuilt

  • Reconstructed the failed Drupal environment locally so the original content could be read safely
  • Recovered and migrated 43 award recipients, five press stories, 214 managed files, and historic grant records
  • Rebuilt the public experience as a modern, fully editable WordPress site
  • Restored foundation photography in a 35-image accessible lightbox gallery
  • Created responsive biographies, awards, press, mission, application, and contact experiences
  • Built a secure grant-application workflow with private uploads and administrator-only file access

A careful production handoff

The finished system was validated on desktop and mobile, tested through a real grant submission and protected-file download, scrubbed of development URLs and secrets, and packaged with a complete WordPress site, database export, deployment guide, and checksums.

This was not a cosmetic redesign. It was a forensic recovery, data migration, workflow rebuild, security project, and visual modernization delivered as one dependable replacement platform.
